SPP-Ottawa Moderator Canada 10460 Posts	Posted 12/23/2012 11:23 pm Looks like a lamination peel, typical of those you see in 100% nickel coins. I see elements of the 'O' and second 'L' of DOLLAR in the thinner parts of the lamination peel. The cross section of that "cut" looks to be U-shaped. Therefore, it cannot be a strike-through given the depth of that feature - maybe wert can image that in 3D colour with his funky software. I have a nickel dollar, with a similar error. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 12/24/2012 4:29 pm It is interesting to see that the damage extends up to the rim, but the rim itself is unaffected. Nice macrographs, but I think I need to see the whole coin. So far, I can't make up my mind if it is a struck through error or a lamination error. Either way, error it is.
