Looks like it was damaged after it left the mint PMD .

Not PMD and not lamination. Looks like a strikethrough. A lot of wear on the coin but still an interesting twoonie error.

I agree that it's not PMD. It stops right at the rim on both spots, too unlikely for PMD. I'd rather see the whole coin to try and judge it though.

Looks like a lamination peel, typical of those you see in 100% nickel coins. I see elements of the 'O' and second 'L' of DOLLAR in the thinner parts of the lamination peel. The cross section of that "cut" looks to be U-shaped. Therefore, it cannot be a strike-through given the depth of that feature - maybe wert can image that in 3D colour with his funky software.

I have a nickel dollar, with a similar error. Rather than hijack the thread, I have started a new thread, to show this type of error:

It is interesting to see that the damage extends up to the rim, but the rim itself is unaffected.
Nice macrographs, but I think I need to see the whole coin.
So far, I can't make up my mind if it is a struck through error or a lamination error.
Either way, error it is.

Hi all, I have the same opinion that SPP-Otawa;
SPP-Ottawa sayed:I see elements of the 'O' and second 'L' of DOLLAR in the thinner parts of the lamination peel.

Here are the picture of whole coin for you sel-691:
