Please give your thoughts on the subject coin. Coin looks to have no lustre and with a very flat look. Probably was cleaned.

Hi,

Coinsfactswiki.com states the following about this coin:

'For the 1893 ten cent pieces, the "flat top 3" is scarce, the "round top 3" is rare, being the key to the Victorian dimes.'

Excuse me for my ignorance on this subject matter but is the above statement implying that this 'flat top 3' variety is less commonly found (compared to the round top version) for only this type of coin thus commanding a higher premium?

Also what other Canadian coins exhibit this 'flat or round top' issue also commanding significantly higher premiums compared to what is considered the normal strike etc...?

I am just curious if this varies depending upon the coin in question.

Thanks,

mdpmedia

Hi Don, looks legit to me and appears to have some indication of cleaned...nice coin though.

and Media.. The 1893 Round Top is the more sought after of both..It is the rare key date with the high price...

Tough to tell from the pics.

Slight chance of being a fake.

More likely though a genuine yet overdipped coin, stripped of its lustre.
