Claudius II Gothicus - Aequitas

Again, seller's image and attribution. This photo is really light. I think it's going to be darker in hand. Also, this is a very uncommon left facing head that I just had to have when I saw it, couldn't resist. lol

This is my second Claudius II coin.

Again, some history straight from Wikipedia.

Quote:
Claudius II (Latin: Marcus Aurelius Valerius Claudius Augustus;[1][2] May 10, 213 â€" January 270), commonly known as Claudius Gothicus, was Roman Emperor from 268 to 270. During his reign he fought successfully against the Alamanni and scored a crushing victory against the Goths at the Battle of Naissus. He died after succumbing to a smallpox plague that ravaged the provinces of the Empire.

He was a great (one of the best of the Roman Times) General....
He did too young to destroy Rome's enemies...

Had he lived a longer life, Rome most likely would have survived longer as an empire

Nice. I do not own a left facing bust. I wonder if these are rare or rarer than the right facing?

Left facing heads are rarer than right facing bust portraits. This is the first one I ever saw when I came across it while window shopping. lol

I saw a few at Wildwinds.

Of the coins I traded away in the last 10 years, this is the one I miss the most.

That isn't a bad left facing head Gallienus, again rare as well. Oh well about trading it. I guess it's one of those regrets in coin collecting, right? lol
