Found this AE4 sized coin listed for sale but I am at a loss to what exactly it is. Roman, Byzantine, imitative, maybe even Vandal/other Germanic? Anyone have a clue? Thanks.

Obverse has a large S.

After much drunken head scratching I will tentatively say Heraclius:

Something like this?:

If it is it fits your area of interest quite well time-wise, 610-641AD.

Neat little coin, I agree with Bobby it is Heraclius. It's a 6 nummi coin from the Alexandria mint, Sear #862.

Nice work and thanks for the help bobby, looks like you hit the ID dead-on. To be honest though I am a bit disappointed: was hoping it was Germanic, especially since it resembles a certain Visigothic bronze type:

Man I want this coin (better yet, any Visigoth coin will do )

They are close in design I can see why you thought it could be Visigoth.
