Many of you will remember the "Buddy, can you spare a dime" thread started by Rggoodie that was posted so that we could help out a fellow collector who was going through a very difficult time. I want to thank you all for the overwhelming response. Rggoodie sent the package and here are portions of the email received in response:

We hadn't bothered going to the post office to check out box for over a week as nothing of any importance was expected (living remote rural we don't have home delivery). I vaguely remembered Richard asking for my mailing address, but I was a quite surprised to find an Express Mail envelope in the box. I was absolutely blown away when I opened it and inside with the letter was a money order.

My wife had to verbally shake me (call my name several times and ask me if I was alright) before I could focus. When I handed it to her, she looked at it and then me, and then wanted to know what I had done to deserve this. I honestly had no answer for her...I couldn't for the life of me think of anything I've done to warrant anything of this nature. AND then, I remembered the heavy brown envelope in my other hand.

Christmas in June? WOW! There were more coins in that envelope than I've been able to purchase in the last 5 or 6 years, and there are several that I don't even have for my US and Canadian type sets. While I don't know what I've done to deserve this, I humbly and very gratefully accept your generous gift. You have made my day,... no my year, everso much brighter.

Receiving this email brought tears to my eyes and makes me so proud to be a part of this community. On behalf of Rggoodie and myself, thank you so much for your generosity and bringing so much happiness to a fellow collector.

Ætheling, I think you joined right after this was posted. If I'd known you were coming, we would have let it run a little longer....you could have sent some of that nice "hammered" coinage!

Well I'm sure an Edward I penny would have gone down well.

I'm not adverse to giving the odd coin away every now and again for a good purpose.

To protect the identies of those who donated, I can not list the coins nor their values.

There were under a dozen coins and some money donated.

Thank you all for your assistance.
Reading the recipients letter in full made me realize how grateful I am for life, health, family and friends
May you all enjoy these gifts.
Thanks again
