There is going to be a coin show this weekend in my state. If I go would there be someone there that can grade and slab coins? I have never been to a coin show, so I'm not sure what is done there.

What coin show is it?

I've been to a couple smaller coin shows and they didn't have professional slabbers there, although I've heard that they are at some of the larger shows.

As far as someone to grade your coins, if you aren't necessarily sold on it being a professional grading company, I am sure there will be many dealers who would be willing to take a look at them for you.

Coin shows are similar to flea markets in that there are numerous dealers that are there all the time, different ones at each show, one time dealers, dealers that just vanish. The professionalism of the dealers also is like a flea market in that some are and some aren't. Coin shows differ also in size, length of time, items available and just about anything else imaginable. Go there with the intent of being surprized at what you may or may not find. I've never found one where someone slabs coins there but many dealers will have a coin graded and slabbed for you for a price. All they do is send them in to PCGS, NGC, etc for you. As to evaluating any of your coins, that too is going to be dependant on how you present them to a dealer. If you ask as if you want to sell them you'll get one price and if you state you don't want to sell them you just want an estimate of their worth you'll usually get another price.
I suggest you make a list of what you want, another of what you need, another of what you want to sell. If you do not have any list of prices, go to the PCGS web site for prices and add them to your list. Then go to ebay, find a similar coin and write that price. Then try on line dealers like MillersMint and write down their price. Now go to that show armed with an idea of what you want.
We have at least 3 coin shows a month here and all within 13 miles of my house so I'm there all the time. The main thing is to have fun.

The top tier graders (PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG) have tables at some of the larger shows. I would imagine that a state convention would qualify as a large show. You could go directly to their websites and look at their show schedules. I believe that most will do on-site grading but you will pay dearly for that convenience. It is generally not worth it unless you have a high dollar coin that will only realize full profit potential in a slab and you want to sell quickly.
