Actually a nice score. I would go through every single one looking for that ultra gem coin.

BadThad-I will be opening all but 5 rolls. Two rolls I kept with H/T and three rolls with the trail die showing on the end coin, although they are damaged by the wrapping machine. I have been finding anywhere from two to six trail die coins in each roll so far.You called it an "ultra gem coin",please tell me why you think that.Thanks. kaubhai-What do you mean by "nice snaps"? 52Raymo-Nice link, also check out http://traildies.com/Thanks for all the interest everyone. Interesting that the mint won't sell rolls on line, but they provide them to banks.

Quote: Interesting that the mint won't sell rolls on line, but they provide them to banks. The mint doesn't provide them to banks. They send them to armored car companies like Brinks,Loomis etc. The wrap them and ship them to banks at random. Banks can't order new cents either,it's all by chance. John1

I can confirm John1's findings about how new coin makes it in to circulation. I've found new cents in S&S wrappers and Brinks plastic. I've found boxes that had solid rolls of 2012 mixed with regular rolls. I usually just edge search plastic wrapped, looking for clips or ender errors. I often go ahead and search the wrapped looking for all errors/varieties but occasionally, I just give them back to the bank. The other day, I purchased a box of nickels and noticed they were new when I got to the car. I also noticed that one of the rolls was only half full. This was prior to opening the box so I just went back inside and asked for a new box. I wonder if I messed up there. Might have been a good opportunity for some kind of errors or something.

Here is an update for those who care. 177 Trails that I kept and about 20 or so that were damaged that I let go. 24 Dimples that I kept and a bunch that I didn't keep because of condition issues and that there were a lot of them. I also kept 80 that were in high grade and eye appeal. John1

Another update. Decided to go through the 80 above average ones and ended up keeping only 5. I noticed that the rest had at least one ding or some bad rubs on them. John1

Just got the coins back from BJ. He said that the ones I thought were "dimples" are indeed and are EDS.The ones with trails on "OF AMERICA" are to weak to list. The ones that I gave away to CCF members is #010T as I though but wasn't sure. Just wanted to keep you guys up to date. John1
