Curious if anyone else (primarily west coast collectors) have noticed that of all the copper LMC they find in circulation, the most commonly found high-grade are the 1974D mintage? Was there a historical reason for more people hoarding these then usual? Some fad at that time?

Someone may have busted a roll of 'em or dumped a hoard through one of those coin couting machines.
Rest in Peace

Maybe they're hoarding them until they can figure out which ones are LD or SD. No big deal either way.

The Mint's experimentation with aluminum Cents at the time may have led someone to speculate that 1974 would be the last year for Copper Cents...

I've been finding alot more later 70's vintages in primo condition. Lots of nicely toned ones too.

1974-D cents regardless of condition, despite not being among the highest of mintages in the series, seem to show up all the time for me in comparison to other LMCs.
