There is a company on the east coast (sorry will have to dig up the info) that insures NOTHING but collectables. Rates were very reasonable and they guaranteed replacement costs and there policies are designed with an inflation feature which actually increases the value of each coin by the month. They will cover loses by theft, fire, weather and also if you just forget where in the world you put them!!! I will have to see if I can locate the info so you can check it out yourself. I do remember that all they insure is collectables, ANY thing worth collecting, and they are highly regarded. Also they insure by total value of your collection and do NOT require a list of coins on hand. They do require that any given time you can prove you are a collector by having receipts of purchases on hand. They are the only company I have found that will insure guns without a list of serial numbers or photos. Again they only require that you can prove, in the event of a loss, that you were a gun collector and can show proof of past purchases. I was impressed as every homeowners policy I have ever had required a rider, plus an itemized list, which they would eventually put into their computer system, or at least their filing system, which then would be come a target for a hacker or thief? Not to mention the staff that may work for their office in your area? Quite honestly I don't care for the insurance industry as it is currently set up! Until they come up with a "No claims this year equals big refund" (say 80%) I will always be a huge critic. It is the only industry in the world where you can spend thousands every year and get absolutely NOTHING in return for NOT needing them.
Take the time to think about your collection and how YOU can best protect it, store it or hide it before committing to an insurance "rider" as they are very expensive.
