Found this very interesting 1993 Cent today. At first I thought "not a bad Greaser" But as I examined it further I had noticed many other odd things about it...

Lincolns Profile and the Profile of the Memorial Building have that strange Doubled look to it, commonly found on zincoln cents. I noticed that the rim on Obverse and Reverse was very well defined. A Very bold Rim. While looking at the coin's edge you can see the significant difference in thickness of the planchet. The thickness is identical to a Proof Lincoln Cent of this year. Is this possibly a Business Strike on a Proof Planchet? If so, that could explain the strange effects around the profile and Building.

The coin weighed in at 2.51 grams.
(My scale may be off by .01 - .02) But all-in-all pretty accurate.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Here are the pics!

Materially, there is no difference between a Proof and Business Strike planchet and you cannot accurately judge the thickness of a coin by looking at its edge. The thickness of the rim on a coin is a function of striking pressure, a well-struck coin will appear to be thicker than a normally struck coin. Since proofs are struck twice at a higher pressure, they will appear to be thicker than a business strike but there is no actual difference in the thickness of the planchet. You have a coin with a better-than-average strike but it was also Struck Through Grease and is plagued by plating issues frequently seen on 80s/early 90s Zincolns.
