Looks large motto to me. Am I correct or is this in fact a small motto?

I thought so too. Hope nobody bids at that price. People need to check these varieties before listing them to make sure they got what they think they have. They need to at least find a discussion board.

Yup, large motto.

After I finished gagging at the seller's name, I sent a quick note:

Quote:
Hello! This is actually a large motto 2 cent piece. That is probably why it did not sell. If you are interested in seeing the difference between the two, let me know and I will send you a link.

Happy selling!

New seller so I took a shot at education here.

Clearly, when you look at photos of the two varieties side by side, the large motto looks nothing like the small. But I dare anyone who has ever collected even one 2 cent piece to say they've never looked at a large motto and thought, "Hey... Maybe....?"

Sure I do that. I always check them out before listing them. Even if I didn't, I am sure a couple people would pick it up that it was a small motto and bid it up to about where it should be. Of course this listing is the opposite they are starting the auction at $65 for a coin that should start at maybe $15 tops if you want to make sure you get at least half it's value what the seller appears to be doing. Good thing a newbie didn't buy it thinking it was a bargain, and grossly overpaying for it.
