It seems to be hand made out of a pewter type material, it is either pewteror lead. Amagnate will not stick to it. It is feels like a soft sort of metal. I tried to get a period on it by researching dff. metal army helmets. It seems to be older than Victorian, because the soldiers helmet fits more in the Edwardian Era.
