I been doing a little coin roll hunting (CRH) lately and I've noticed a lot of 1964's and most of them are in really good condition.

Out of 6 rolls I checked today, there was 12 1964 nickels. I checked a few rolls the other day and pulled several from there too. I didn't count them though. It is probably important to note that they coins were from a completely different banks.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Dave

I think 1964 was the year they released like 2 billion nickels. Might be way off though. Lol.

1964 was the date freeze year that extended the date 1964 through the 1965 calender year

plus the mint was in overdrive to releive the national coin sortage

What exactly constitutes "full" steps? I have also been setting aside 64's from my coin roll hunts. I like me some "Big $$". :-)

What is the thinking here if these are so common?

Thanks.
