1978 Dime Error? - Coin Community Forum

gold panner Valued Member United States 209 Posts	Posted 01/20/2013 09:49 am I am looking for a little help and I have researched it for a while and can not find anything on it. I found a 1978 dime last week with no copper clad layer. Is this possible or is it a fake? the coin is in great condition. I have gotten a fey jfk halves that have been coated so the look like they are silver and you can definatly tell. This dime does not appear to be coated. Thanks for any help. macmercury Pillar of the Community United States 5826 Posts	Posted 01/20/2013 12:23 pm If you have a digital scale that give you 10th of a gram, you can get its weight against a normal 78 dime, it should weight slightly lighter if genuine.
