Although I make make weekly visits, I haven't posted here in a while. Something is up with the 9 on this one. Not sure if it's #3 or something else. Opinions?

It's not a #3. There are a myriad of slightly repunched 9's. If you are looking at the 2011 (65th ed) of Charlton, we were only able to put 80 total varieties in there, out of the 100's to choose from. There are well over 100 varieties just of the 1859. If you have a little higher resolution photo of the 9, I might be able to tell you more.

Thanks for the fast response! I tried and tried to get my hands on a 2011 Charlton, but they are nowhere to be found. I knew it wasn't a perfect match from the #3 pics I've seen, but it is repunched. I'll try to get some better pics. Thanks again!

Hi guys .. long time, no see, but I've been kibitzing for a long time. I don't want to hijack toasty's thread, but look on ebay or at coin shows for the 2011 Charlton. Before Bill Cross started putting the variety section in the back, you could pick them up by the dozens once the new one came out. Now, it will take 10-12 years before a new variety guide comes out for your own niche, depending on how they split up the series' and the Monarchs.

...and I predict the nickel dollar variety catalogue will be the most coveted of them all!!

Maybe try Chapters Books if your local store doesn't have one get them to do a search of other stores or Charlton Press might have some left

If you have nowhere else to turn (people now keep them for that year's variety/denomination spotlight), then have a friend copy the back pages for you, or go to the library and do the same.

You are absolutely correct Dan I went online to try and find this book check out Amazon.ca but make sure you are sitting down when you do. I feel sorry for anyone who wants one of these books get ready to mortgage your house WOW. One store has 2 new books and is asking $1,124.02 each the other store has 8 used books at $340.58 each
