I like Jefferson's. I don't really collect them but they provide me with an education in minting that my 2 Cent coins do not. Each year of Jefferson's has its quirks that affect the grade of the coins. Markers are fairly easy to spot. the state of the dies can be determined by the location and size of the chips and the state of the steps. Anyone care to try their hand at grading this one.

I dont think your scans put this coin in its best lighting but actuall a AU 58 coin may look better. looking at it again a hit on the steps and all the chatter on the jaw it may only get an MS 62

Based on the photo it's not a particularly pretty coin, it has a lot of marks on the portrait and Monticello.
At best I would say MS60.

The pictures don't really do it justice Its IMO and ms62 coin I think a couple of you are mistaking weak strike for wear with the AU58 but the coin obviously does not appeal so I think grade is influenced by how much you like the look of the coin vs actual technical grade.
