I've had this for quite some time and I am thinking of now sending it to NGC in hopes of getting a higher end MS grade due to the uniqueness and mottled onset...what say you fine community?

The toning should no affect the numerical grade, just eye appeal.

Nice looking coin! However, toning doesn't effect the numerical grade. Nonetheless, if NGC really likes it they will add a star to the grade.

It actually looks like it was polished, and has retoned since. I think you would get a details grade from NGC.

sorry if the pics cast too much washout from the lighting I apparently stink at setting correctly for my photos

there's been no polishing but I do thank you for looking and offering your thoughts

It wasn't the first and it won't be the last time that I misinterpret a photo.

I also thought it may be cleaned but it probably looks much better in hand. Though I could be wrong, I feel the coin has seen circulation. IMHO, the dark, flat appearance on the cheekbone and the presence of luster only in protected areas like the reverse lettering are both signs of wear. I hate to say it but I am thinking the coin is possibly a low AU. The toning is nice though.
