- premium doubling is 99% vertical; Machine Doubling (horizontal) fills the other 1%.

machine(mechanical) doubling. It happens when the machinery gets a little out of tolerance, the die gets tired(deterioration), or there is chatter. A small premium, but I, personally, think that they are neat to see and fun to collect.
