Hello all, I recently was going through a plethora of coins from my Dads collection when I came upon this 1922 Peace dollar that seems to be a very nice coin with a very strange error on the back side. Need Help!
Your help is greatly appreciated. I have super high-res scans if you would like to see.
The photograph makes the coin reverse appear it had been soldered at one time.Bright and shiny, but that good be light reflection. It also has some crackling in it that looks like a glue residue. Then again it also looks like someone poured acid on it. I could stare at that coin and think of other things it might be,but none of them would have to do with a mint error. That said, more knowledgeable people will see the thread. regards coffeecup57
Thanks for your input, whatever is on the surface is not glue, it seems to be melted metal or something. I have done a silver acid scratch test from multiple parts of the coin and it appears to be silver. Tricky.
