is the demand for only the 2012 version or just any penny made in any year is selling like hot cake?

@Beautyisgod: I don't really know how their currently doing on ebay because I'm not going to sell any until I actually get them.... but I expect that they will do REALLY well! If I could afford/obtain 1,000 rolls then I would buy them!. Here is my reasoning: 1) It's the very last of the Penny 2) Only 20,000 rolls (the first Dino had 25,000 mintage) 3) I've been selling regular rolls on ebay for $7-9 each (and I've probably sold around 200-300 of those.... with no real limit on the mintage) 4) They are CHEAP ($10)... by comparison the first Dino was $30 (both were plus tax and shipping) 5) Strict limits are being enforced by ALL retailers (which means that some people will not be able to obtain their desired quantities) 6) Talisman is selling them for $30 per roll (we all know that is a grossly inflated price at this point, but I guarantee that they are still selling some) 7) The shopping channel/CDNCoins sells REGULAR UNOPENED rolls for $20 each (these are half the price for limited/last/certified rolls) 8) Very low risk (If prices don't increase and you sell for $10 then you are out only $1-2) 9) Do you really need another reason? FYI- I made a similar list on another coin forum (see RFD page 841: response #12607) when the Mint released the 1912-1914 gold coins because most people were against getting into them.... and now look at the prices of those!

@Beautyisgod: Mainly the 2012's (both magnetic and non-magnetic are selling well)... I've sold a couple of 2011's and 2010's but people want to own the last year of production.

wettld2, thanks for the post. Makes perfect sense. Just made me go and order 5 rolls from GW. Just think if you could get a mint sealed and numbered roll of the last million large cents.....What would that be worth today?

Only about 6.7 million were minted in the large size. A roll of 50 on jandm goes for about $100 in EF condition.... One MS-60 can fetch about $20. I would estimate $1000+ if MS-63 were turning up that would push the price up.
I don't see the 2012 penny going that route in 90+ years. If the mintage was 300 million, there is probably about 4+ million rolls being hoarded. (and that if the mintage was only 300 million, could be more)

I am not saying that it is the best deal out there, what I am saying is that I expect these to eventually sell (once the Mint is sold out) for $20-$30 per roll. That's 50-100% profit! Again, even if they don't do that well you are still only out $10 (and that's if demand drops to zero which would never happen).

Hey coin games. Thanks for the info. I'm sure you're right about the value. What I do like is that this is unique to the last pennies distributed by the mint. Won't ever happen again. I'm not buying to turn them over. These will be put away for my children and then for them to continue passing down. Just a great, unique keepsake for the end of an era.
