Thoughts: First, nice. A very nice score from an estate box.

Get dimensions & weight so you can find out exactly which coin it is.

About it:
From the picture I think it's a One Silver Rupee (circa. 1793?) (aka 19 Sun Sicca Rupee) *KEEP IN MIND* I don't know too much about Proclamation coins (but I would collect all the 8 Reales if I could afford it).

There were 4 mintmarks: Calcutta, Dacca, Murshidabad & Patna.

F $75
VF $125

sorry maybe I should have stated what I know,
it is this http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...mSearch=true
ah 1202/19 frozen which would date it about 1806
what got me is the value, on line and as per would price guide it would top out at about $50
but on the page 8 of renniks 45th edition there is a picture of this exact coin listed as a proclamation Rupee and giving the value vf$100 ef$200 unc$350
now the coin you see is aUnc if not Unc and has heaps of mint lustre. I have 3 others that would hit gVf-Ef and several other rupee from other mints arount this time.
my question is does the coin being a proclamation Rupee make it worth more than a normal one? is there special markings to prove it is one? having come from a large Australian estate box would that indicate it is one?

There is no difference between a "proclamation" rupee and a normal rupee. The difference in prices simply demonstrates local collector demand; Australians are prepared to pay significantly more than collectors in the rest of the world for these coins, simply because they can be classified as "Proclamation" coins and marketed as such by local dealers.

Clearly, the vast majority of "Proclamation coins" in Australian collections are recent arrivals and never actually circulated in Australia. But since there is no means of determining which ones did and which ones did not, the price is unaffected.
