Hi everyone, just curious what everyone's opinion is on the mint selling these special wrapped 2012 1 cent rolls. They will be wrapped in a special mint wrap with a hologram that says it was one of the last 1 million cents minted. At $9.95 a roll I guess the mint is just trying to pass off some of the costs of the recall of the penny. I'll probably still buy it though.

Or maybe I won't with $7.99 shipping and another 2.33 in taxes. $20.27 FOR A ROLL OF PENNIES!

https://goccf.com/t/140898https://goccf.com/t/137902&whichpage=4Discussed in a few other threads too. Should give you some opinions. The value is in this: "Each special wrap roll is authenticated to be part of the last million units distributed with a serialized holographic label." Guaranteed sell out even with the crazy shipping and tax.

I bought one, it was only $13.something with the tax and shipping. Probably because I'm in Ontario, and so is the mint.

Wait NO! 20,27 is rounded down to 20,25 ;) Is there taxes in Ontario for a roll of pennies, no tax for a coin roll om website, weird I thought it was only for silver and bullion .999 My way of winning is to pay cash when rounded down and credit card when rounded up, after a few hundred transactions who knows you might be able to buy another special wrap roll... of nickels.

I am not a masters club member. The price was much less than $20. I'm sure it costs more to ship them to, say, Alberta, than it does to Ontario.

Seems mighty high for a special wrap of the final million. I'll settle for a roll at face value for the final 10++ million minted! Because of the low mintage, it'll probably go up in value. BTW, CC1999, I like your idea of paying cash when rounding down & credit when rounding up. Apparently, businesses should still accept pennies (because they are legal tender) so you could also pay with pennies to avoid rounding up. Cashiers just can't give pennies back to you. So I'm going to keep a handful in my pocket, just for the heck of it! LOL

Just curious... I wonder if the special wrap rolls are non-magnetic only, magnetic only, or a mix of both? I think the non-magnetic (regular) 2012 rolls carry a higher premium than the magnetic ones?...
