Hi there,

Another question. What do you like and/or dislike about this coin? I remember the War of 1812 gold coin was the about $100 cheaper with a mintage of 2000.

Considering % of premium per oz then the 1/4 gold Artic fox is a lot better, at 153% over spot = ($650*4)/$1700 vs 312% for 5oz SML ($500/5)/$32.
However, there are other factors to consider such as mintage & demand (series popularity, etc).

So what is your opinion of this coin vs the gold version of O Canada version? It has a mintage of 4000 and a nice box for the series. The price works out almost the same per ounce as this coin.

I agree the silver is more affordable. I wish the 1/4 oz came in a collector box or a 5 coin box as part of a series like the O Canada set. At the moment I ordered both the gold and silver series but now I'm thinking about cancelling the gold series and ordering the 1/4 oz gold due to it's low mintage and size.

What is your opinion on that?

I think this is a great coin, nice 1/4 oz size, small mintage, first in a series and completely different style from whats out there!

I plan on getting one of these.

It's not a very attractive coin in my opinion. The Timber Wolf was a beautiful coin, but not this.

And 20mm is a bit small. The smallest I go for when it comes to gold coins is 22mm.

I just seen this coin, it is superior to the silver coin no doubt. I highly doubt the silver coin will be worth as much as the gold premium wise in the future.

I like it, I say if you own the silver, you must really consider the gold artic fox coin.

I just wanted to say, this is, by far, one of the most beautiful, unique, and BEST coins produced by the RCM this year. I cant stop gushing over this coin.

You hold it at different angles, and its like the fox is moving his eyes at you and his surroundings, the fox just glistens in gold, and really stands out as the light hits it.

I NOW can see why they did this with this coin, the texture and diffrent coatings... this is going to be a great series and will be very rare.

Awesome coin, I am hooked on this series. Just wished they did half ounce st least instead of 1/4. :/

I know why you like it Yup. its "proof" hehe, I do think it would not be worth buying anything smaller then a 1/4 oz gold coin as its just slightly bigger then a penny at 20 mm and the penny is 19 mm and ya 1/2 oz would be much better. Also the gold fox is only 1500 mintage, not bad really.

@North

HAHA yes you know it my friend! The finish is just so BEAUTIFUL, great job by the RCM, this is a mint I plan on focusing in on. I think they have hit a home run with this coin series. I cant wait to find out what they feature next for this series.

Yes, size wise I cant complain, 1/4 oz much better than 1/10 oz, just wish they did more half oz at least. The only gold proof 1 oz I have seen I like is that Moose coin, I believe the Bateman coin I think it is?

With gold prices dropping, I highly suggest the 1/4 oz gold coin should be on your shopping list.

Its a beautiful coin and one of the best gold coins put out by the RCM.

@yup7676, you said "With gold prices dropping, I highly suggest the 1/4 oz gold coin should be on your shopping list" Are you still referring to the gold arctic fox coin? The Mint's issue price of $649.95 has not changed despite the continuing drop in spot gold price.
