Im getting a little confused on grades of coins and need some help. Is a MS 65 the same as a PL66 grade, there certainly is a differnce in value in some books I use for reference ? An American source informed that they are the same which adds more confusion to the pot....

For Canadian coins, MS grades are used for business strike coins (Circulation) and PL grades are used for coins that are made for collectors (In sets, etc).

With American coins, for example a coin can be MS-65 PL because they use PL (and DMPL) for reflectivity of the coins surfaces.

Coins that were not intended for circulation, with American coins are graded PR, or PF.

I hope that clears it up.

That depends on why you are asking that question... I would say buy the coins you like the best...
