I have an opportunity to buy a 1780 Thaler for $25. It is almost certainly a modern restrike with edge lettering. Would you buy it?

Of course, the "modern" restrikes began more than 160 years ago. It's the really recent counterfeits you don't want in a collection. Have you ruled those out?
