Hey my father in-law gave me these nickles..just curious is they are worth anything...the 1940 looks nice but is it worth much? the 1953 looks like a far NSF but just wondering what or if its one that is "missing chrome"?
Thanks

The 1953 is what typical chrome plated steel nickels look like after heavy wear. The chrome rubs off or flakes off, especially on the high points. Add a bit of rust and you're good to go.

This is probably why RCM invented the triple plating system for the current plated steel stuff.
