My first silver! cost me £3.50 for these 3 coins - arrived 4 days late but it was such a deal I dont really mind.

First:
Constantius II Siliqua - broken
DN CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG
VOT XXX MVLT XXXX
Mint mark is just off of the surviving bit of the flan but...well, turns out most mints minted this one.

(this must be one of my most beautiful coins - lovely sheen and detail).

Second:
Magnus Maximus
DN MAG MAX....
VIRTVS ROMANORVM
Minted in trier and milan, this one probably trier

My-First-Silver!-A-Familiar-Bust---Who-Is-It?
(DN MAG MAX and ROMANORV is the surviving legend - a nice bit to have I think)

Third:
Who the hecks is this? Such a similar portrait - going to need some help here. Valerian? Phillip?
No legend readable - possibly PAX AVG on the reverse?

Fourth:
Barbaric? Thicker silver, possibly a fourree. Smaller bust, possibly Geta? Very little visible, lovely oval flan. Dont know what to make of this.

I had wondered about Valerian too, try Treb Gallus also.

Ive been itching to get a Valerian so I hope it is.

Looks to perfectly match an issue by Treb of Liberalitas. The issue is that the obverse has one surviving letter - an O just up and right of the emperors forhead and this isn't present on treb's coins -unless its a G, which I'm quite sure its not.

Ill investigate. Perhaps volusian? Hes contemporary to Treb?

I am in love with coin #1... anything silver from that time I this is special. Now the fact its broken does devalue it but, I still think the coin is ridiculously nice. Its small to begin with and you have most of it, that's awesome.
I still think silver of coin #2 is awesome.

Wonderful coins, with alot of character.

AN - thanks for the kind words! I really like it - shines when you turn it around in your hand. Wish I could keep the broken chunk attatched in a way that it can be displayed. Its tarnish is cleaned perfectly to highlight it - I wish to change nothing with it.

Im going to be recieving a biological specimen soonish (thanks to a fellow forum member!) which I plan to embed in casting resin so I might investigate embedding coins in that. Have it on my mantle peice. I am worried about damaging the two siliqua further - fragile things, a lot more so than I expected.

EDIT: This thing was actually a lot bigger than I expected. Do siliqua come in denominations?

Coin # 3, the goddess on the reverse seems to be holding with her right hand a short Caduceus.

Alas, here in southern Britannia, it seems to have been common to halve Siliquas.
Some examples I have are below.
A half of a Gratian Siliqua, and a Siliqua of Theodosius that it seems some attempt to break it was made.
