I have a bag of copy gold coins and these 3 coins were in there too. They weigh 26 grams each and have a smooth rim with no markings. I checked ebay and Google but can't find any information. My last step is a destructive test with acid and a file and I'm trying to avoid this. The numbers on the coins are GT0482, GT0484 and GT0486. Anybody know who made them and if they contain any silver or just plated? Thanks for the help.

I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Clad...0#vi-content which makes reference to the National Collectors Mint, http://www.ncmint.com/Products/the-...-collection/

If these are the right ones, they are "silver clad".

CoinsKelly,

Thanks. You nailed it with the second link. Here is part of the description:

Quote:
It's a complete date set of U.S. Gov't "CC" Morgan silver dollars recreated as privately minted 71 mg .999 Pure Silver Clad tribute proofs, each with the magic "CC" mint mark clearly visible on the reverse.

This works out to .071G of pure unadulterated silver. A dollar value in precious metal of 6/100 of one cent. WOW.

Whew! So glad that you don't have to do a destructive test with acid and a file. Now all you need is 94 more to earn a penny, which is worth more than $.01 in materials.

You MAY have found a niche market here.
