Yes, definitely.

Metallic Composition of the Penny:

1864-1942 - bronze, 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc
1943 - zinc-coated steel
1944-46 - brass, 95% copper, 5% zinc
1946-62 - bronze
1962-81 - brass
1982 - varies between those brass and those 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper (copper-coated). Have to weigh them - brass = 3.11 grams, copper-coated zinc = 2.5 grams.
1983 to present - copper-coated zinc
