From what everyone's posted it seems like its hard to find Ike's in banks and yet every bank within my area have them I can ask any teller and all of them have 5-10 in their drawer, in the beginning I thought they were hard to find but after figuring out each teller had them then I lost interest in them. It seems like the only thing the tellers in my area don't have is half dollars they have plentiful amounts of $2 and Ike's but never any halfs.

Really? That's surprising. I have never gotten Ikes or SBAs from the bank. Once when I asked if they had any of the "larger dollars", and the teller just laughed.

Voshus007 while the half dollars are not all that plentiful in my area of the country, I gladly bring some up to your area so I could get some Ikes. Hopefully you're up the West Central Illinois because that's were I going on vacation this summer. I was planning on doing some coin hunting there.

I have gotten several Susan B's from ignorant clerks given to me in change as quarters.

I stash those away along with Sac$ and Bicentennial quarters.

Sorry ghostrider but I'm down in Florida although I would love for you to bring the halfs to my area. Everytime I ask a teller they'll say "ohh, a man just came in and bought them all". And it's every time this guy must be good because its always before I get there. Haha the only one I have ever got from the bank was one covered in gum.

Voshus007 depending upon where you are located I could have been the fellow who got to the bank just before you did. Being retired I usually make the rounds of certain banks (not stopping at just one bank).

What I usually do (since I roll search either dimes or quarters) is to ask for just one roll from the teller and then ask if they may have Kennedy halves, Ikes, Sacs, or Susan B.

But mostly I'm looking for Eisenhower dollars. There is a dealer that I usually stop in to see every couple of weeks, and the last time that I was there he said that he has over 100 Ikes and that he usually donates them to the boy scouts if he can't unloar them elsewhere. When I asked what he's looking for he told me that he is looking for $.05 over face. Well, since I didn't have the money when I was in, I told him that I'll be back next week.

After all, $.05 over face is so close to face a person has to be touched not to take advantage of it. So Wednesday afternoon I'm going to his store to try and see about picking them up. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

But the thing to remember is not to quit trying and to be somewhat creative. Things do happen.

I'm still picking up Susan B's.
