@Yup,
Actually I used to be a series 3 licensed futures broker, so yeah I know a bit about markets.
but appealing to authority is a common logical fallacy so lets deal with facts alone.
You said nothing I said was true...nice blanket statement, try and elaborate.

Nobody is talking about the real issue here. When are Gold and Silver prices going to stop going up? I've had about enough of it. This uptrend in PM's is alarming. Pretty soon it will make all the stackers unbelievably rich upsetting the balance of wealth in the U.S. Luckily we have an Administration in the Gov. that will redistribute the wealth to people who did nothing to earn it. But not before they are happy for a few moments. What is this world coming to?

@jmkendall With all due respect to you and/or anyone who fought there, recent declassified Vietnam era transcripts show senators knew that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a staged false flag event.Where US warships were apparently attacked by North Vietnamese PT boats (an incident that kicked off US involvement in the Vietnam war) was staged event that never actually took place. The declassified LBJ presidential tapes proves LBJ knew the Tonkin incident never happened and discusses with McNamara how to politically spin the non-event and escalate it as justification for air strikes. The rest is history. 2 million Vietnamese and 60k American soldiers died for a lie. Unfortunately, that's just one story, there are many more I need not mentioning here.

Quote: This GDP spike has fueled their defense budget like no one's business. Go look at the stats It has but theyre still years if not decades behind when it comes to the military. Our Navy could likely take on the entire worlds at once and win its superiority. Our ships are superior and we also have over half the worlds Aircraft carries and nuclear submarines and the worlds only super carriers. We also have the only steal bombers that have proven time and again they can bomb what they want when they want. If we shut down all new advancements it would still take them quite a while to catch up. The list really just goes on an on of things we have others dont. They could one day be a super power, but as of now theyre just a regional power. Regardless of what their economy is doing it has to be mentioned that thats in large part due to the fact that we buy so much from them and their deals with American businessmen. You dont bite the hand that feeds you which is why conflicts are always just posturing. Whether they admit it or not when North Korea looks like its about to go off the deep end against us its the Chinese who reign them in. The last thing they want is us in a war on their boarder or the supply lines disrupted to their biggest customer. As long as theres an economic co-dependence nothing more will come from things than posturing. Being weary of their advancements to keep pushing ourselves is healthy, but being able to pump out a lot of cheap goods doesn't make them a superpower. Military might is what always has and always will make superpowers. Quote: This lesson was not lost on the Russians and Chinese. They KNOW we can defeat them in any Conventional Battle. China has a lot of Soldiers it's true. But they are essentially useless if they can't be moved or "projected" to where the Chinese want them. And they can't move them without us destroying them in transit. Why do you think Taiwan is still "allowed" to exist? Thats the thing most people forget. Nukes are the great equalizer, but take them out of the equation and its not really even a close fight. We even underestimate just how powerful our military is. NO ONE expected Iraq to fall in under a weekend yet it did. They were surrendering faster than they could be dealt with and youre right they absolutely were a feared military world wide. Without a doubt though the China superpower stuff is overblown. Theyve been on the way up and given enough time could reach that status some day but they arent there now nor are the on the verge of it. Something major would need to happen or change to see it in our lifetime. Red Dawn was a good movie but in no way did it reflect reality.

"Again, I will say it again, China is not a world superpower and is not one nor will they be one. Period. Anyone who thinks they are, is wrong, sorry to say.
China cannot influence the price of gold and silver. Anyone who thinks this is wrong and has no idea how gold and silver markets work. Thats not being smug either, but that fact is people shouldn't be judging or assuming things when they have never ever traded, worked for banks on the commodity desks etc etc. "
Geohoarder summed it up nicely " appealing to authority is a common logical fallacy so lets deal with facts alone. "
Saying "I trade silver and gold" doesn't mean you choose who the superpowers are. Not trying to take shot my friend, just stating a fact.
I would like to hear you comment on the facts I posted about china. They are snowballing power and are in a HUGE uptrend. Certainly you can't ignore uptrends, right? And all the other things I mentioned.
I really don't see how gold and silver matter as much as you are saying they do when our dollar is tied to neither. Plus, if we are the superpower and they are the majority shareholder in our debt...
Basically, when I read your post, all I saw was "anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, because I understand silver and gold. Anyone who doesn't agree doesn't understand it"
I just don't think world power has solely to do with gold and silver manipulation anyway. Last I checked, during WWII we put SILVER in our nickels. Why? Because BASE metals are more important in war!
I like hearing different opinions. I like to hear your opinions BECAUSE they differ so much, but you gotta back them up.
Please, don't post your resume and use that to say I'm wrong because of your job experience. First off it's kind of demeaning. Second, if its true that we don't understand (you say that a lot...) then explain! We are all here to learn and to teach!
The internet is the great equalizer. It's not who you are, but what you say, that is taken into account. Dr. Oz can say anything on TV and it's gospel to thousands of women. Look on the internet, then people pick apart everything he says, right or wrong.

Only 137 pages in and we're talking about who could beat up who? Sigh. Quote: China,,,we owe China, lots, bunches,we buy way to much China items. They import way to easy to Wal Marts ect. Taxes them higher when they import. China,,,smart folks, mighty fighters, good with money, safe players..Yup7676 see no reason to think China is a super power ok,guess you think US is hhhmmmm. Where youth get schooling they test better then US youth. They never stop trading well for a little they do. They are good with paper money Yup7676. They are not foolish or unsafe superpower..
Tell everybody why we owe China so much,,,explain why US does not have items for sale in China all over the place?I must know what you think.Yup7676 how is Wall Street and the US going to do in next 4 months. If you are unsure good we all are..Yup7676 China not worried..They do not sell high end items to most folks here in are stores.I would think you who works with paper would be more careful telling folks what the US Stocks and Dollar will do..Buy silver,,hoard Copper and Zinc... Mumble mumble!,,,, Mumble,, I told you so.. Mumble,,, Quote: The dollar will fail. The demographics of the US combined with our entitlement programs make this a certainty. The question is will it fail before then. And balance is restored. OK, for war... I thought the big problem was that America couldn't keep out of things. Quote: Read your history. In the 50s, the Iranian nuclear program was started and funded by the United States... and the main research reactor ran on highly enriched uranium (one whiff away from bomb-grade), which was also provided on by the US. (The post-revolutionary government would later reconfigure the reactor at their own expense to run on lower-grade uranium, and this was decades ago...) And wasn't the Iraqi military sponsored by the United States against Iran in the 80s? Hey, it all looks like a big mess from here. OK, I don't really have what it takes to play with the big speculators, and I'm certainly not American enough.

"A Superpower is judged by it's ability to project it's power and enforce it's will. "
No one has backed us up in any of the last few wars we have jumped into, most everyone thinks we are warmongers, and in our attempt to get support to fire warning shots at Assad, no one backed us up.
You know, when I used to play video games as a teen, I got really good. I was a "superpower" compared to my friends. And it's like the Japanese proverb says, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" It got to a point where I would be so good I could no longer win. We would play together and I would get ganged up on. Eventually seeing me lose was all anyone cared about. Once I was toast, of course treaties were gone and backstabbing commenced.
Just like when you play risk. Whoever takes the lead first has a REAL good chance of being ganged up on. Everyone sees a superpower and doesn't want to be taken over.
When you watch the news, don't you ever wonder "who likes the US?" Sometimes I wonder how much it would take for the US to get ganged up on. In the case of WWIII, who would be on our side? I feel like it may be like "Risk" in that case.
Many paragraphs later I wonder "why am I posting about this in a coin forum?" Then I remember that this hobby has made me rethink politics over and over again.

WOW! I disappear for an evening and wow all the responses. Look- I am not interested in debating anything. So I am going to keep this short and sweet. First of all, I appreciate EVERYONE's opinions. If you feel strongly about what you say, I respect that. I have no beef at all with anyone and what they think, especially if I disagree and are wrong. I am not putting any of you down, if any of you thought that or I gave you that impression, I am sorry. That wasnt the case. I will still tho, hold to my conviction which I know to be true and that is that China is not and will never be a world superpower. In the international community, China is NOT considered a superpower nor have they even gained anywhere close to that status. End of discussion. That is not my opinion that makes it true, but rather the organizations around the world that are entrusted with placing those designations. Financially, China is NOT a financial power either. They have decades and decades to catch up before they can even come close. Again, they lack the infrastructure and network to establish themselves as a financial power. Their bonds and ratings are not even close to superpower status. Again, this is NOT me, but rather the rating agencies and organizations that assign these things. All this I want to tie up and bring back to silver and gold. China cannot and will not influence the price of gold and silver. Everyone insists China plays a major role. Sorry but that's wrong. Again, I will continue to repeat myself: long term context- gold and silver are in very powerful downtrends and as I have been saying for a while now, they are at BEST broken assets going forward. I leave you all with a report from the worlds central location for gold futures trading, where we trade unlike brokers who solely sell product. I have vast experience in dealing with assets across the board and my experience and knowledge cover these areas and sorry but you will not change what I see and know and deal with everyday. Again, I respect everyone's opinions. I love you all equally and the same. Furthermore, why cant we all agree to disagree. Plus, its not like I dont like gold and silver. OF COURSE I LOVE gold and silver myself. I am your fellow collector of gold and silver coins (and you know I cant turn down a gold 999 proof coin nor a Somalian elephant coin lol ) But as of right now, outside of buying gold and silver coins for collecting, there is no real good reason to be investing in gold and silver nor expecting this downtrend to just change overnight. I leave you with this report from earlier this month. Please enjoy this PDF from our CME. http://www.cmegroup.com/education/f...l?source=rssLater this weekend I will look into silver and golds price action. That is really what I want to focus on: whats going on next or what could happen and where we could see prices go. Thats really all I am interested in. Talking superpowers I am not interested in.

Hey Miggs, the Gulf of Tonkin was in late 64. We were in there as early as 56 with 'white plains' and other missions. We had troops on the ground, other than Special Forces, in 63. The Gulf of Tonkin was just an excuse to escalate our troop involvement.
I would even agree that the escalation was a tool by the "military industrial complex' to make money. But the base reason we were there was the 54 Treaty.
As far as people not liking us; I fear that is simply a part of being at the top. Most Brit's that I know like us, and most people, that I have met, from the Commonwealth don't hate us. Apart from that I have had pleasant times in Vietnam, since normalization, Belgium, Georgia and Armenia. Somehow, I don't believe, that the view that the entire world hates America is sustainable. But I'm with the rest....lets get back to Silver and Gold.

I went back and read some of the comments I missed.
So a couple of points.
Yes, we did back Saddam in the 80's and I believe long before that. But it would be a missconception to think we were his only supporters. The Russians had a bigger stake in Iraq than we did.
One needs only look at the Order of Battle of The Iraqi Army before the current structure was in place. The Iraqi Army used T-54/55; T-62/64; T-72s; BMP's; ZSU 57-2; and on and on. There was no American Equipment in Iraq; other than some WW2 equipment. if we were the big supporters of Iraq then they would have been armed with American Equipment, not Com Block.
Cosmos, if you want to debate; we can go to the general forum. But if you do please use facts and not name calling. Telling me I'm wrong because you say I am; is not a mature, educated response.
But be prepared; I have spent 33 years in the Military. And my other passion, besides coins, is historical research. You should probably be ready to use Congressional Serials, and understand National Archives RG numbers.
And that is my final word on this subject...on this forum!
Hey, Miggs, this wasn't directed at you man! I may not agree with you all the time, but it's all friendly on this end!

Quote: Again, I will say it again, China is not a world superpower and is not one nor will they be one. Period. Anyone who thinks they are, is wrong, sorry to say. then you say Quote: As a trader, I will repeat, I do not CARE where silver and gold go, just give me a trend and confirmation where I can make money either selling them or buying then and that makes me happy So, we can take any trend (1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 50 years, 1000 years), and see where China is going ... but you just have a belief in something, no factual proof. Ok, I'm gone from this paradise of traders ))

@bekiz
Not sure I get what you are saying.
However, as a trader, when it comes to trading assets, none of them mean anything to me. If a commodity goes higher, I dont "like it", I am not enamored with it. The only thing that I like is that it follows the trend and makes me money. The same would be true if it was going lower and I was selling it short. the only thing that bothers me is when I am WRONG per the markets.
When I trade, I put my feelings aside. The only thing I feel is price action. In the case of gold and silver, as I have been saying, they are in a downtrend. I am not saying they are in a downtrend because I "feel" that way about them. Rather, price is talking to me, and it is saying these two assets are stuck in downtrends. Furthermore, in following gold and silver everyday, there has been no solid price action to give confirmation that they are ready to break out of this downtrend.
I am waiting and watching but the most they do is trade like broken assets in the current. Nevertheless, I watch for ranges to be broken, if certain areas of price hold etc. None of this is based on my feelings.
China, what I said is based on fact. I am not going to debate it either. I know what I believe about them to be true and nothing will change my mind. Thats all I am going to say.
My emphasis tho for this thread is to stick to watching gold and silver for the benefit of members here. Yes, many days nothing happens. But you know what, those days where silver and gold do nothing all add up to a picture. Everything gets to a point in time and eventually resolves itself.
I am waiting for gold and silver to resolve this chop. I dont care if it takes days, weeks, months, or years, I will be waiting. I will be offering up a view of this on this forum. Thats what I want to focus on. Theres been too much talk getting away from where gold and silver go. To me, price action is the ultimate decider of where they go, not anyone's opinion, including mine!
