quote:When I was younger it was considered sound advice to "buy low, sell high". Now it is considered the apex of financial wisdom to "buy high, lose your but, sell at a loss". quote.
Could it be geopolitical strife that produced the latest buy?
Then again, who's selling... Besides the dealers?

This week in gold we saw attempts to break the 1350-1355 area on the top side. The usually attacks came in(you know who) and down side of 1330-1335 was not broken. Last weeks cot report had a virtually little change in the shorts held by(you know who) on the gold futures market. Judging by the rise in gold today after the reporting period of Wednesday this week, this confirmed to me that gold may remain strong. There are many other factors keeping the gold liquid hot and that is the Russia-Ukraine beef. I was at the pdac mining conference this week and the mood to me was quite upbeat compared to other years. Maybe it was the fact, one of the best things you could of put your money in to this year was, well, miners.
There was also follow up news on china...so basically here in Canada if you can afford to buy a house, we give you a visa. The Chinese love our housing markets and thus they are the most overvalued houses on earth. Unfortunate for me, as I live in Canada, but fortunately this came to an abrupt end earlier this month. There is now a lawsuit being threaten buy the Chinese 1% against our government. So even more money will be poured in to physical gold and gold mining companies.

Well no surprise here- for a second time, gold has gotten rejected in the 130.51 area. Why?
Reference what happened on 4/15/13, on that heavy volume day of selling, the low of the day was 130.51. Seeing the rejection there today, tells us for now, that area of support has now turned into resistance for higher price in gold. There is one of those brick walls we were talking about last week.
In the coming days it should be interesting to see if gold tries another run at that area or begins to unravel fro here and go lower.

the better than expected us payroll nos. that prob. created the dip is not entirely true as the numerical figure is bigger because the employment pool is bigger. the unemployment rate is slightly worse at 6.7%. ~$1330 should hold once people realise this.

Wait until all of the retail closings start to hit the payroll number. The closings are starting to build, 225 stores for Staples, up to 1100 for Radio Shack, consolidation for Office Max/Office Depot Merger, Sears, J.C. Penny ect.

With so much uncertainty in everything, is there any option than to invest in Silver and Gold? It's worked for a few thousand years now!

20.90, almost time to start buying again. For me. Although, $20.9 is cheap.

@joe2007
It depends all on the price action Joe. I'll have some charts up this weekend but going forward, we see silver is at its lower end of its range after the Friday dump.
The big clue we are looking for is does the Friday low of 20.73 hold? IF silver breaks out of that range, lower prices are ahead.
If one is looking for higher prices, you want to see some sort of bounce next week, more churning and then moving to the higher end of the range which would set up a move higher.
For that to happen, we want to see a steady series of higher highs and higher lows. over 22.18 and it sets up again for higher prices.
I hope that helps. It is intersting in looking at our proxy SLV, we see a clear gap down out of the range. I'll have charts later.

just a thought...
sa electricity producer eskom can sometimes only supply 90% of it's customers needs which account for 95% of sa's electricity needs.
if the strikes get resolved would there be sufficient free electricity supply to bring mines back online?
can we expect to see supply shortages put upward pressure on pm's?
