Question for YUP: You say the words PRICE ACTION over and over..this is from FX Empire today:
"Watch the price action and read the order flow at $1221.70 early today. After the early session, this is the angle to watch the rest of the day. Trader reaction to it will tell us if the bulls or the bears are in control."
My question is..can you tell us a chart or link to better determine "Price Action", and where to look at "Order Flows"...these seem to be the critical daily data one needs, to help determine trends.
Thanks

Was watching the price of silver at work as it hit a low that morning around 0530, but by the time I got off work and home the price had come up near $15.20. Decided it was definetly on it's way up and may not get another chance, so bought 250 CML for $17.12ea. Happy with my purchase and thanks to yup for all the helpful info. Now will just plug away every month buying what I can, watching the charts and hoping to hit the low for the month. Question, I recall reading somewhere on here about stock in a gold company that pays dividends with gold? Was that Integra Gold Corp or another company?
Thank you
z

I found this Zack..not sure if it helps, but, shows companies paying dividends(which are always changing, due to financial reports)...always a big bonus to get dividends to re-invest.

Any guesses on where we head this week? That mining mutual fund had a great week (over 4% on Friday alone). In addition, both silver and gold had a nice week.

Was $1240 a key level for gold? If so, tonight should be interesting as we are pretty close to that level.

FXEmpire 4-11-16 forecast:
June Comex Gold struggled to hold on to its gains on Friday, but the market still managed to close higher for the week. All week, investors mirrored the price action in the equity markets. Weaker stocks drove investors into the safety of the gold market.

Stocks posted their worst week since February. The closing price reversal tops in all of the equity indices could underpin gold futures this week. If there is a follow-through to the downside by the stock indices then look for gold to post strong gains. The size of the rally will be determined by stock index volatility.

Gold also posted its biggest weekly rise in five weeks as the Federal Reserve remained cautious on U.S. interest rate increases. However, traders are bracing for volatility this week because of concerns about the Japanese Yen. Any aggressive action by the Bank of Japan to weaken its currency could create a volatile environment for gold traders.

The main trend is up according to the weekly swing chart, but momentum has been to the downside for four weeks, or since the $1287.80 top on March 11.

Thanks ilikeikes. That's helpful. The article lists companies that pay dividends in metal, but a person needs a substantial holding for that to happen. CharlesSchwab sent us a thick book about trading out the Linn Energy stock for Linn Corp stock, and was thinking it may be a good idea to drop the oil altogether right now and go with a mining company like the one you suggested, Integra Gold Corp.

been stretched for time here but a few observations and replies-

orderflow- not something any retailer will get so you wont be able to find it. Furthermore, order flow would only work for intra-day, not the over all trend, you could have a very strong order flow of buying for the day and then the rest of the week could say, send whatever asset lower.

Here is what you should be doing. you must compare the HOD and LOD each day. successive highers highs and higher lows mean trending up. successive lower highs and lower lows mean trending down. pretty simple stuff. you must pay attention to how an asset closes, how low does it go, does it break the previous day of low or previous high of day. Thats all you need to do and you can figure out the price action. It is really that simple.

Gold and silver really have been doing nothing since they made their yearly highs, basically running in place. This is typical of the current market environment. they have been range bound since early February, with gold making a few yearly highs and pulling back into the range.

one week they are up, the next down, rinse and repeat.

This is not a bad thing. Gold remains in an up trend. Silver the previous week to last had fallen out of the range. Then it worked itself all the way back into the range last week.

its pretty obvious to see whats going on. Dont expect gold and silver to go higher like a rocket ship. They have plenty of resistance ahead and the market is rotating assets constantly.

Going forward there is nothing really to say. Until silver breaks 16.17 there really isn't much going on, just more range bound trade. Gold the same thing. Same with gold. Until gold breaks 1287.80, the yearly high, it remains range bound.

Absolutely nothing wrong with having a yearly asset range bound, consolidating and just going sideways, in an up trend, and that is what gold is doing. If you dont like this price action, then you are asking too much and shouldnt be holding gold. lol

Silver is ho-hum. No where near gold in terms of price action, not really yet there and still lagging. However, the price action is constructive. The more it fights back to the range, the more we know the buyers remain in control and the higher probabilities that it can pull higher

Thanks YUP...appreciate the time and effort you share with us.
Zack..don't forget McEwen Mining Co(MUX)..an operating company run by top notch execs...they don't go up fast..but, they just keep doing very well..it's like buying gold for pennies on the dollar...I see them over 5 bucks next year, barring any crappy downturns. They had a BIG jump friday, seems some big buyers have caught on...
Not to poo-poo Integra, but, they will be a long term investment..if you don't mind putting $$$ in there, and "forgetting" about it, you should do quite well...not a stock for flipping, like ABX, NEM, or AEM.
Here's from their website:
Project and Company Profile

Integra Gold is a junior gold exploration company advancing projects in Val-d'Or, Quebec, one of the top mining jurisdictions in the world. The Company's primary focus is its high grade Lamaque South project. In 2014, Integra completed the accretive acquisition of the Sigma Mill and Mine Complex, a fully permitted 2,200 ton per day mill and tailings facility. With major federal and provincial permits in place, existing infrastructure and exploration potential, this acquisition removed major costs and shortened timelines typically associated with mine projects. With a current market capitalization of $185 million, Integra has raised over $75 million since 2013 despite depressed gold prices. In February 2016, Eldorado Gold Corporation completed a strategic investment in Integra, acquiring 15% of the outstanding common shares. Integra was recently named to the TSX Venture top 50 performers in 2015 and the OTCQX Best 50 award for 2015

I think right now almost all gold mining stocks hitting 52 highs should be ok. There is a ton, just last friday there were like 8 names making yearly highs.

Names such as NEM, FNV, GOLD and others are being held long term by institutions. I personally have been trading and going long FNV, GOLD. There are other great names as well.

However, one reason you want to buy higher priced stocks that are leaders is because they move and have much bigger moves no matter how little you can buy.

You can also buy GDX and save the worry of picking an individual name.

If you are a silver bug, you will like the price action in PAAS. Another name with good price action is SLW.

In fact you could buy GDX and SIL and then buy a little of each if you really are bananas about gold and silver.

Keep mind tho these are not going straight to the moon. All too often the public has this misconception that stocks go straight up. Some do, some dont. Why?

Institutions and funds are constantly rotating money and so are other market participants. So while gold miners go into the toilet and stop moving higher, then other portions of the market go higher until the market comes back to the miners.

For this reason, if you are buying gold and silver miners what you should do is allocate an amount of money, pick your spot and then STOP buying and sit on them UNLESS you have the ability to read the tape and know where to add to the position.

The whole point is to accumulate and then stop buying and let the profits run until the trend dies. If you keep buying all the time because your emotions are running high and you think you are going to miss the move, you will be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Wow, PM starting strong again tonight.

I was hoping for a price drop as I would love to pick up some gold coins from Mexico. IMO, those 50 peso coins are amazing. Problem is I don't have any yet.

just a brief note, let talk price action-

silver, 2 weeks ago, was looking bad. remember how tho I said, we did not know if it would go lower or fight back into the range. Only by giving time would we get the anwers..

notice last week, the buyers took silver into the lower end of the range and now it appears as if it might be attempting to get to the high end of the range, refer to last nights post for the key number to watch on silver.

gold- going back to its 52 high from 2/11/16. Is gold trying to make a new range finally, with the floor being the 1260s?

all these questions must be given time but this week is going to give a ton of clues for gold and silver.

Thanks Yup, and to think I referred to you as Yap a few times in the past :)

In a previous post, you mentioned the psychology of this stuff. I can now see what you are talking about. You talk about adding to a position on a high. I'm looking at everything from my mutual fund, to silver, and gold thinking.... maybe hold, and maybe SELL!

However, if prices plummet, I'm happy holding and adding to my position. That is actually kinda strange, and what seems to be the opposite of what you describe in terms of price action (e.g., strength creates strength, and weakness creates weakness).

I also have a tough psychological barrier now as silver crossed the $15.80 mark, which is my guess as to where my average spot price purchases is. Again, I was comfortable purchasing under this level as it was lowering my cost average. Anything I would buy today would increase my cost average. Finally, this is the spot price when I purchased, and does not include premiums, which would leave me still underwater unless selling on ebay or something.

btw, gold miners continue to push again, many names either hitting more 52 highs or setting up hit fresh 52 highs.

let me repeat myself- once these 52 highs are hit, they tend to continue on,. 52 highs are an UPTREND. never forget that. Sure, it could drop back and pull back and go into a lull for days, weeks, months but it still is an uptrend.

Thank you for the name of mining companies. It would be long term, like 15 years. Going to speak to a rep with charlesschwab later.
