@thq,
I'm sorry, but am not sure what you are talking about.
Every estate will be different based on holdings. Also, I was asking Yup about a mutual fund investment that is not leveraged at all.

@yup Have been reading and studying, being patient and watching silver closely. I know you try to educate so one can make their own decision, but I would like to know your thoughts on what a conservative educated guess of what the floor on silver might be next week, and maybe what day this would likely be established. I know crystal ball gazing isn't a factor, but your experience and insights of market action lends credence to your advice. Have read a lot on here about 'slap down Mondays' but I've noticed Tuesdays also can show a drop. I am very new at studying the charts, but based on what you've said and what I've seen happening with the metals and the reports coming out, would I be correct to expect a drop Monday or possibly Tuesday to $14.50? What would the indicator be if the market might take it lower than $14.50? Thanks for all your help.

Are you planning on investing large amounts zack? If not, the relative pennies you're chasing isn't really worth the hassle or gamble imo. Trying to catch a bottom is like trying to catch a dropping knife with one hand and not getting cut. Sure it can be done, usually by getting lucky, but what are the chances you won't get cut?

@Montana those royalty trusts are similar to mining stocks in their commodity dependence. The comment about leverage was about oil (and other commodity) futures. My dad was a speculator but he had enough sense not to leverage his life savings. The royalty trusts have taken a beating but it would have been a bloodbath if he had been invested in futures.

@Cascade. No, not large amounts like many posters here. I bought some when it was higher a week or so ago, and still have $4250 budgeted for more. Then just going to buy a tube of CML every month after that. I'm a prepper in case we wake up one morning to find the only thing the dollar is good for is starting a fire. Have a years supply of long term food storage, 300 bottles of wine (The basics to survive) and now working on some hard currency. Not really sure how much to stack, but hoping to accrue 600 oz this year, and then shoot for a total of 1000 oz total by end of 2017. Your analogy of the knife makes a good point. I punch in the numbers and think 'If it gets this low I can get one more tube of CML' Guess maybe it's just a little bit of greed? Don't really like handling it or looking at it, just like the security of having as much as I can stack. If nothing else, for the grandkids.

But it has got to be said.
Price action is always about the now price in referenced to the past price chart wise.
Soon as the crystal ball comes into it, it is no longer about price action.
Tomorrow , next week, 2 years into the future has no part in the theme of this thread. It is all about the now price, price action.
A couple of friends have told me for years about their trading activities and after talking to them in more depth they base their decisions on old news that's full of conspiracies and their manipulations of the market. I know enough now to tell they are in fairy land. Sad Hey!

I wish I could say "hey X is the floor". Shoot if I could do that we would all be trading, super rich and my job would be super easy. Unfortunately tho, I have no idea of what next week brings in silver.
When we approach any asset, whether it be a commodity, currency, bond or equity the most we can do is look at where it is at and what has it done up to the present.
In the case of silver, after today, the drop was ugly for starters. Gap downs are pretty nasty in terms of price action and usually led to more selling pressure.
With silver, the range we have talked about was broken today to the low side.Usually, whatever direction that range is broken, is where the asset is more likely to follow. So since it broke the range lower, probabilities are high that silver goes lower from here.
However, Silver did break lower out of the range before and managed to find buyers that eventually put it back into the range. Going into next week, we need to see if the selling continues, if so how far does it go? Does it bounce back into the range or drop lower.
We dont know exactly what it will do. We could take a guess and it would be wrong. It would be unwise to make a prediction on something we dont know. We must wait on the market to make its move and follow what it does.
Therefore, I have no way of knowing what the floor might be or on what day it bounces from a low end.
As far as specific days being "slap downs" I would just say that it is in human nature to attribute a "reason" why something went down on a certain day.
We just have to wait until next week and see if this selling continues or does it find an area to bounce from.

What a week, eh? Such a drop today, yet, as the spot slowly "recovered", I ended with ALL my 9 mining stcoks(gold and silver mix), in the green. I LIKE this..I like this a lot. Belly button screaming buyers are out there, now, at these "lower levels", to perhaps maximize profits..later. My goodness, if today's drop had happened just 5 months ago, I would have been 1.5k in the red, easy. Just an observation for the period we are in. On a side note, This will be an interesting month, from a global view. There is a looming change about to liftoff: "Fast forward to the first week of 2016 and China is warning foreign banks that they must participate in Yuan-based gold price fixing or lose their Chinese gold import rights. This first-ever Chinese benchmark is set to launch in April of this year and could be a game-changer for gold prices moving forward. Reuters reported today that: China has warned foreign banks it could curb their operations in the world's biggest bullion market if they refuse to participate in the planned launch of a yuan-denominated benchmark price for the metal, sources said. The world's top producer and consumer of gold has been pushing to be a price-setter for bullion as part of a broader drive to boost its influence on global markets. Derived from a contract to be traded on the state-run Shanghai Gold Exchange, the Chinese benchmark is set to launch in April, potentially denting the relevance of the current global standard, the U.S. dollar-denominated London price." ================================================== http://goldstockbull.com/articles/g...na-in-april/

I've learned one thing about myself following silver spot prices. I have ZERO patience.
Just go to 50 or 0 already.

Montana, you don't give yourself enough credit where credit is due...$50? Come on dude...put some positive vibes out there...50 bucks is old news...look higher..much higher..I KNOW you can do it! Now, put your Big Boy Pants on, and give me a $75...I can't hear you...give me a $75.... There ya go..I KNEW you had it in you.(the gold-silver ratio is so far out of whack, $75 may be conservative) Seriously..isn't it always calmest before the storm? Our day will come. There will be some event..can't tell you what, I am not a soothsayer, but, my inside connections tell me some big event will occur making $50 look like child's play. Who are my "inside connections"? Just my belly button. ====================== "And if we look at history, we see this can happen fast. Case in point, when silver's price spiked in late 1979 and early 1980, it took only 5 months for silver to move from $6 to $48 (that's a move from $18 to $144 in today's dollars)." Hang in there...drink heavily, if need be. Your biggest problem soon will be trying to plan an exit week...the BEST problem you'll ever have.

ilikeikes: do you know what caused the spike in the 80's? .... A couple individuals tried to corner and manipulate the market.... and they were taught a pretty darn good lesson about it ...
Gold has always been the hedge and the basis to which governments backed their financials... in these times it's very weird because the old rules just don't apply anymore.. does gold really have value? Do governments really back their currency with gold? I seriously begin to wonder and have my doubts... Silver is around $15 bucks right now... and I could see it between $12 and $20 without much issue... anything above that would pique my interest and I would start to get excited... anything below that and I would be concerned...
$75 silver... well you might say its a gut instinct but perhaps its just some gas from something you ate.... I don't see it happening. Not while I'm north side of the dirt horizon at least!

Nice run up tonight for both gold and silver. Au up 0.89%, Ag up 1.23% at 1130 PST..should be interesting tommorow! Once again, more than a handful of my explorers were up today, with most of the majors, if not all, down substantially.
