Just a quick update-
please note for those following at home the proxies-

GLD- new 52 low

SLV- new 52 low

I would suspect that the more selling we get the higher the chances of some sort of sharp rebound. Nevertheless, the rebound would be short lived and would not take gold and silver out of their respective downtrends.

Please also note how the other PMs are getting crushed as well, including platinum and palladium.

I agree with Demarco, I feel bad for those who have been buying this week and previous weeks. You would think these people would be smart enough to understand that if they only waited, they could find much lower prices instead of buying every single dip.

My whole point of this thread has been to walk you through and warn you to wait. I have been saying that it will take time. But the waiting and time is worth it. Those of you who have the emotional control and discipline to wait should be commended and I tip my hat to you. Your patience will be rewarded.

So again, don't rush in to buy at these levels. Also please be aware that we could all of a sudden have a turnaround, we could see a very strong powerful bounce. If that happens, do not feel we have hit the bottom. Counter trend moves within the overall trend are normal and are not saying gold and silver are now going higher.

Remember, tops and bottoms in all assets is a process, resolved through time.

Just wanted to make a note here-

Depending on where this falls today, I think we continue to see more selling into tomorrow.

On gold, our next target is 1200. IF that doesn't hold we will continue to test all the way down in levels all the way to 1150.

Another scenario we could see is overnight futures extending it into 1200s and a bounce into tomorrows open. Stay tuned and regardless of what happens, one should not be buying gold and silver, this is NOT the time to be buying.

Unless you are selling short, you should be on the sidelines. If you have any doubts of how it feels to have been a buyer of other dips, just search on the Internet and you can see how people are feeling right now.

Yup I really appreciate your input.

I think the propaganda from the last few years is still playing out in the minds of a lot of folks. For 5 years it has been "buy Gold/Silver". "The economy is bad; buy Gold". The economy is Good, buy Gold. Whatever is happening in the world was touted as a reason to buy Gold and Silver. There were no reasons not to. Those of us that said it was another bubble were greeted with ridicule at every turn. Dont' get me wrong I made a fair amount in the physical market, but I knew it was just another bubble.

The point is for 5 years all we have heard from the PM Bugs was "buy the dip". It was a marketing slogan that worked for the industry, and did help when the PMs were on the way up. As you say, trends are hard to overcome. And for 5 years the trend was to buy the dip, which is why so many are still do so.

Right now, I only buy what I would anyway.

Again, thanks Yup.

I just wanted to give a shout out to yup7676 to thank you for all the information you post on this thread. As a complete noob' in the PM world I find that your forum entries are:
1) easy to understand
2) very polite in tone (not condesending)
3) thus far have been right on the money (no pun intended)
I'll keep reading this daily and keep doing my own due diligence waiting for the right time to buy me some silver but in the meantime, thanks for the info and please keep it up!
Cheers.

flanders8008, Those were some very nice things to say.

I posted here saying that I was waiting for silver to hit $20 before I made a move. Yup hasn't steered us wrong, so I still haven't made a buy. Don't get me wrong I will be buying. In the meantime I read the advice the Yup is offering and patiently wait.

Thanks Yup

This maybe a silly question but....

With the rush of folks buying silver now, waiting weeks sometimes to receive there order, when the time comes that silver begins a climb back up in value and another mad rush starts to stack some, will there be any silver left to buy?

Without a doubt there will be. Theres no shortage of silver and hasnt been at any point. A real shortage means theres no more left or supplies are running out which they arent. A supply shortage from not being able to mint fast enough if nothing more than a temporary market condition that will fade after a short time like they did the last few times.

The mines still have plenty of silver, theres more sources of it we havent even begun to mine, were now recovering it in recycling, mining technology improves being able to pinpoint it better/find it/get more of it, not to mention a good amount of it is constantly getting melted down and put back into the market.

Thanks guys for the kind comments, just doing my little bit to help everyone out, I am glad to hear folks find it easy and simple to follow. I am really trying to keep it as simple as I can, I have taken a ton of technical jargon out to keep everything uncluttered so that one can see price is really the ultimate decider of where this asset goes.

Ok lets get into what we have now-

First let me state that at this junction, I would not be surprised in a scenario where we see gold, as an example, hit 1200, perhaps over night and A- bounce hard in the morning or B- have more selling into 1200 tomorrow and then bounce later in the day.

Many times, the strength of the selling, the momentum can push an asset much much much farther down than thought and breach levels that were thought as good support. This often also works in reverse with an uptrend.

So the bottom line is- expect anything right now. What is true and confirmed however, is both silver and gold are in strong downtrends. Even if they retrace, gold and silver are still in a downtrend. Remember also as I have repeated many times, TIME is very key and important here. Time will allow this move to play out and give us the clues as to where this is all going.

Before I get into the proxies, I want to point out an example of momentum and price history. If you can, pull up a 20+ chart of ABX. This gold miner has been an a strong downtrend since 2011. Prices continue to drop. The stock has repeatedly hit 52 lows and continues to hit fresh 52 lows. There is NO BUYING at all. The heavy volume has been done by the funds and institutions. This is their foot print that they have been leaving.

Now I want to illustrate to you the price action. This chart was brought to my attention by fellow traders and I wanted to share it with everyone, it illustrates the real danger in how far prices can retrace when they hit 52 lows and are looking for areas of support. ABX is now hitting multi-decade lows, these prices hadn't been seen since 92 and 01. Furthermore, we don't know yet if that's the end. IT could very well continue to run lower as it is not showing any signs of finding any sort of footing yet.

The same will happen with gold and silver. It is possible we hit support at and finally level off at 1000. However, there is nothing to say that gold returns to say 500. There is nothing to say that silver doesn't hit 4 dollars.

All of this will be determined by TIME. Time will allow things to run their course and find the bottom. IF the selling continues, it could very well be a slow dribble to a low point.

This is why it is so key to be patient. We could very well be waiting months or years to finally find where gold and silver finally find a floor and hold that price area. So it is not wise to be buying all the dips. In fact, even if prices dropped, and then ran ahead and gave confirmation from much higher levels that prices were done moving lower, even if you missed say a 5 pt move in silver, you would be much safer because at least you would know prices were moving up.

So for now, if you can be patient, stay patient and don't lose focus. Again, this will be a process. It will be long, dull and boring to a certain extent.

Our proxies-

GLD- lower high, lower low and again another 52 low

SLV - lower high, lower low, again another 52 low

One final note- notice that on our proxies, prices ended the day closer to the lows of the day. In many cases this carries into the next day, so we have the increased probabilities of more selling tomorrow versus a bounce.

Thanks basebal21, I must have misunderstood what I read about a "supply shortage". Now I realize that means a production shortage.

You probably didnt misunderstand anything. A lot of sources will try and use the production shortage as evidence of a supply shortage because they have a personal financial interest in getting people to buy or to keep reading their material which people lose interest in seeing the price falling or settle flat for years.

If there was a real supply shortage you would see mint prices skyrocketing and products being condensed to the biggest money makers. Weve been getting it for thousands of years though and theres really no reason why we should see one in our lifetime sort of natural global catastrophes that change life as we know it

"You would think these people would be smart enough to understand that if they only waited, they could find much lower prices instead of buying every single dip."

You are missing a key piece of the EQUATION Yup, via some items were bought SO HIGH, the only chance to get now is buy with them taking a bit of a loss verses pulling it off the shelves block all together and say...You know its fell so low I cant sell now, rather got hold on to item and let it ride back up again....

What does that mean in practical trading here you go....

I recently bought a ox 20 and roll fo slave queen rounds from someone at a price which was WAY LESS then they had in it. It was from a friend as well so you dont wanna beat a friend up to bad knowing they are already taking it on the chin, esp when long term goal is in play and a drop I knew was gonna continue does not alarm me....

Cost average down again....

I can guarantee you you the high premium items are not like the ox or that slave queen roll both bottomed priced still on ebay at 765 plus ship from Canada 20 so 785 and 800 plus ship on the Slave Queens, check for yourself so the spot price does not control everything....

There is a RARE Raven 1997 bringer of light half oz. round from Canada which lists commonly 1200 to 1400 even now. Again half oz., not full so that's WAY crazy eh. Well I know of one listed at 1050 free ship. Now then NO WAY I pay even 1050 when I can get brand new 2013 half oz gold China Pandas at like 710 right now free ship modern coin mart....

But if I could get that piece at 800 I probably would jump as it is SO hard to find at good price and may be my ONLY chance to ever get a hold of it....

Hawk, you keep up with these things better than I do. As silver spot falls are you seeing numismatic premiums growing on rare and hard to find items like old pour bars?
