philadelphian Pillar of the Community United States 3253 Posts	Posted 02/18/2013 1:12 pm The number of obverse stars hit its peak in 1797; all 1797 dollars have 16 stars, the 16th representing the admission of Tennessee to the union. After that, they realized it was impractical to keep this up, and Mint Director Elias Boudinot had the subsequent coinage go back to 13 stars (though there was one 1798 dollar die variety with 15). So that's the second thing you CAN see on this pathetic attempt to hide behind a blurry picture, that condemns this coin as a fake!
