to quote the great Bob Uecker, I think the man who operated the coin press 226 years ago "was just a bit outside"...

Very neat specimen. I look forward to seeing what the colonial folks have to say about it.

Awesome CT Colonial

I've seen many that were off center a bit, but this is a beauty

Nice an off-center and struck through another off-center planchet creating an indent.

Any thoughts on it's variety or value? It is a connecticut, right?

I will say this, for a mess of a coin it really is quite attractive in person.

I'm going to say Miller variety 33.7- r.2, which would make the date 1787. I'll defer to vermontensium's opinion, but if I'm right, this one was coined by James Jarvis, who minted the Fugio cents! Neat specimen!

It is indeed a Connecticut Copper and Miller 33.7 as philadelphian pointed out. A common variety? Yes. Uncommon as to the off center strike as well as the indent? Yes.
You have a F+ Details coin here on a near problem free flan, minus the small punch next to Liberty. This coin is worth several hundred dollars in my humble opinion because of how many you see come up for sale. It's a small number, I can tell you that.
A very nice specimen indeed

Not double struck off-center, the off-center and the strikethrough/indent occurred with a single strike.
