Whats Wrong With This Mintmark? Need Help.

edgman Valued Member United States 402 Posts	Posted 02/18/2013 5:54 pm I'm thinking about buying this coin but somehow the "D" mint mark looks kind of unusual. Looks like an italic "P". Was hoping the Forum members could evaluate not only the mint mark but if the coin has been cleaned, etc. It goes off on ebay tomorrow so I need help as soon as you could. It is hard for me to put my finger on it and it could possibly be the scan. If I were looking for an uncirculated example, I would try to hold out for one with better pictures. This guy is a wealth of knowledge. As suggested, IMO the coin is problematic and does not have original surfaces. The coin looks like it was scanned. It wasn't, it was photographed.
