Jayson Valued Member Canada 55 Posts	Posted 02/19/2013 11:52 am I have a question about the 1947s MacArthur issue peso and 50 centavo Philippine coins. My coin catalog say they were issued for circulation, and indeed I've seen many in circulated condition. But the mintage figures (100,000 and 200,000 for the 50) are more in line with other non-circulating issues. I've seen websites saying both. Peso coins were minted in silver until that point, but mintage figures never dipped below 463,000, which is more than four times the amount for this coin. So what I'm getting at is were these coins issued for general circulation? Or were they strictly commemorative issues? Report this Post to the Staff
