Fortunately, the one thing that didn't go missing from my recent PM order was the package containing five Mexican Gold 50 Pesos. I've been meaning to get some of these for awhile, since I happen to think they are the second most beautiful gold coin ever minted (after the $20 St. Gaudens). Because they contain over 1.2 ounces of pure gold apiece, however, they are significantly more expensive per coin than AGEs or other bullion coins. Which is why I've been waiting for gold prices to come down a bit before buying any. Anyway, for those who have never seen one before, I thought I would share a picture:

I agree those have always been one of my favorite coins. Unfortunately my budget has me collecting the silver 5 and 10 peso coins. As well as the Onzas and the Libertads.
My all time favorite is the new gold proof Libertads.

Though I have had a hard time getting spot back when selling them I really do like the size.

I only have one, and I too like the 20 peso with that intricate Aztec calendar.

Interesting coin. I like this size, the eagle with snake, the female figure (except the face and hair) The unusual dentillation, lettering, and "50" put me off a bit. Still though, they cost less per oz in relation to melt than other gold coins, so nice buy.
