AU50 far rim.

I would want to see it in hand before saying cleaned. Why would anyone clean barely circulated nickel?

To that question my own opinion is that no coins should be cleaned to retain all originality, but they are inexperienced collectors that thinking cleaning coins is better for them, or there are some coins that come from personal collectors that enjoy making them look shiny and have no intentions to sell, but as time goes on the collection may change hands a few times and try to be sold. I myself have seen many 1948 silver dollars cleaned and rare coins cleaned so to me someone cleaning a nickel is quite common

Allo bmxboy

If that nickel was cleaned it had to be more than sixty years ago. My father knew better than to clean the coins. He bought some, but he mostly found what he had. Believe me, I was told not to clean anything.
Thank you for your comments. There is quite a bit to learn.
