Are these worth saving? I go through approx $200/week in pennies and I find alot of them and I know some people lkeep them. I have no interest in them at the current time, but if someone out there wants them by the roll or bag, let me know and we can work something out.

While the relative mintage numbers may be lower due to the 4 designs and the regular 2009 numbers being lower across the board they carry no premium in circulated condition.
Since you wouldn't be tying up the family fortune in saving a few hundred or so if you could build a roll or two of each of the 8 circulation varieties it might be appreciated a few decades from now.

Stop! Before you do anything hastily, check out the "Wexler" website. The 2009 varieties have many premiums! Esp. the 2009p Formative years series. Their called the DD's of double-thumbs,skeleton fingers,... Check it out. -joey

I save all of them unless they are in rough shape. I know several other people do to. If you find a lot, sell them on ebay. I'm sure there are people who would look through them for errors if you don't yourself. There are also people who will want to buy them and hoard them.

Seems to me a lot of people save and hoard them so they will always be available and not worth a heck of a lot.

I save all of them that I come across. Like N9jig said, you are not losing the family fortune by keeping them.

Well... the lower number of these made may lead to them being worth money someday. I am not a fan of the various "error" coins you see floating around. Most of these appear to be simple stamping issues that left remnants - not an actual error like a double die. (note thats just my opinion).

Quote: Seems to me a lot of people save and hoard them so they will always be available and not worth a heck of a lot. Example is the 1931S Cent. So many people hoarded them they just don't go up much in value. If the 2009's ever gain value it will be in about 300 to 350 years, plus or minus 25.

I might save some of them if I ever see them. So far I have seen three pieces, one LP1 and 2 LP2.

I bought a roll of each type of 2009 from both mints uncirculated and plan on seeing where their value is at when I am 60. I have a while.

I save them when I come across them because I like their designs. If they are in bad shape I spend them.

Zinc Rot is enough of a reason to save them.
I pulled several hundred of them from my change in 2009, now they show up much less frequently.

I keep all of the red ones I find.
I have found about as many that are heavily tarnished (which is sad for only being 3 years in circulation) and throw them back after checking for extra thumbs and other doubled die varieties.
