Lets start at the beginning.

1. Why do you think it is fake?
2. Where did you get it?

From the photos and what you say there are a couple things I can comment on.

The weight is near the wear limit. 96.7% and these could circulate down to about 95%. So that is OK.

The edge detail that I can see looks OK for the host year. Have you checked the overlaps?

Looks like an acid test may have been done on this coin - hard to be sure.

The punch is impossible to evaluate at this scale too small not in focus.

Did you confirm SG?

The 1 in the date is fine in this case - the over 1 hub is common and original.

I would bet (with the added data) that the coin is real too bad about the acid test. It does drop the value some. The weight is really not an issue. That weight is over 96% of the original so it could still circulate as a dollar.

The thing to question is the counter stamp it makes the real difference. Many worn originals are stamped with fake stamps - but usually the forgers do not do as good a job of making the coin look worn as this one.

The stamp looks good but without a better photo it is impossible to tell.

The SG test is only worth doing if the coin is suspected of being a base metal copy. I think you are safe here. I did not know what the acid was or who did the test. So I did not know for sure the stain resulted from a test. But if the pawn shop did it. You are likely safe saying it is really silver.

If the stamp is fake the coin is still worth about $35 to a counterfeit collector. As a damaged original it would be silver melt for most regular collectors.

If the stamp is real it could be worth nearer to $100.

Either way you likely got a bargain.
