That is the official medal of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition/1904 World's Fair hosted by St Louis. The bronze version is the most common type followed by the less-common gilt and silver types. Judging by the number of worn examples I have seen over the years in St Louis, I would guess that many of them were carried as pocket pieces. Your example appears to only have some incidental wear/rub and I would estimate value at ~$30.

Welcome aboard, Gazot! I humbly concur with what biochemist6 wrote.

Your piece is more attractive than many that I've seen. In addition to having appeal for the "so-called" crowd, other collectors, those seeking western memorabilia and fair items, also have an interest in this medal. It could well be a centerpiece for a collection of other 1904 fair items. I personally enjoy finding "go-alongs" for tokens and medals in my collection. If you do an ebay search for the fair, you'll see many potential go-alongs, I expect.

Thanks Exoguy and Bio. I do get a kick out of the tokens and medals. Had some more turn up today I will post in the next few days. Mostly Civil War and Hard Times but some other cool stuff as well.

I enjoy collecting these US Mint Fair/Exposition medals.

Here's one of my LPE medals, in silver.
