What are thoughts concerning the grade for the following 1923-S Buffalo nickel?

It appears someone scribbled over the designer "F" in what was ostensibly an attempt to identify it as having the "S" mint mark ... a rather odd act of replication!

The engraved S is likely to be too much to ignore. The technical grade should be VF and the equivalent (net grade) probably F.
