I never dump more than I can carry in at one time in one hand. Usually about 4 boxes.

Quote: I never dump more than I can carry in at one time in one hand. Usually about 4 boxes. Pretty impressive - 4 boxes in one hand! I myself use an old bank bag, limited to the leftovers from one box. My bank has a counting machine, but I try not to go too often. But, I also do not have the time to search that often.

Me too! They are very handy. I have a few actually. They say.. Quarters $1000 Nickels $200 Cents $50 "St Cloud state bank" And a blank one I usually get 2 boxes in a bag, and carry 2 bags at a time. Normally I have fewer coins than that.. thats the most I have ever done at once.

There is only 1 bank in my area that has a coin counter. I'm there 1 to 2 times a week and drop in about $90 in cents each time. They have very nice tellers and have never had any issues with it. I've found if I dump during my lunch break the machine usually is pretty empty and I'm not having it be full on me when I do it. If I fill the machine on my first dump of the week I don't go back for a second one. I don't want to make the tellers empty the machine twice in a week. I did hear of a person dumping $800 in cents into the machine. I would classify that as too much. The machine holds 4 $50 bags, so the person made them change the bags 4 times in one visit. I dump at the coinstar as much as needed for Amazon and Lowes gift cards. Just bought the kids a kindle from Amazon using coinstar cent dumps.

I use BBVACOMPASS as my primary dumb bank. They give me big plastic coin bags (I don't roll them) and I usually dump when I have two boxes. The banks servicer picks up once a week on Wednesdays. The coins are usually deposited about three days later.

I'm fortunate that my bank has a coin counting machine that is complimentary to use if you are one of their customers. What I usually do is dump a bunch of my searched nickels into the machine, cash in money, then go to a different branch, or a different institution altogether and get a few more rolls. I try to hunt over a wide area so as not to deplete the fishing stocks, so to speak.

Thanks for the info that Coin Star has no charge if you take payment in gift cards. I can live with that if they have cards for places I frequent.

I dump mine at a coin counter of my local bank and the most I ever dump is 1 box each of nickels, dimes, and pennies. Not once has it ever filled up and required someone to mess with it.

I just did a dump on Friday and it was around 72 dollars in pennies and 98 dollars in nickels. I did it at a customer operated coin counting machine in the bank and it didn't need to be changed... At least not while I was dumping, but who knows what happened with the next guy to put some change in lol

Find a bank with a coin counter machine. They're usually more efficient than coinstar and don't have a charge if you have an account with the bank. At that point, you can dump coins until the machine overflows, and I've almost had that happen to me!

The most I dumped is when I decided to take back the copper cents I had been hoarding. Almost 30 000. Took the better part of an hour to feed them into the machine.

I have a great bank they have a coin machine in the lobby and a larger one in the vault area in the bank. They have asked me to take mine to the counter when I have a large amount. I have turned in 3600 in coins at one time but usually it is 1000 to 1600 in coins. After I cash my coins in I always put money in my savings (at least half of the amount or more). I always thank the tellers at the bank and always ask them if they have any junk they want to get rid of (referring to coins that they must count...halves, dollars, 2 dollar bills etc.)they always seem happy to get rid of it. I don't make it a habit and only do that maybe 2 to 3 times a year. I'm very happy with this bank!

It does not matter how many coins you dump at once. I don't dump more than a few hundred dollars at once. I will dump more if it is a larger denomination like quarters or halves. I do it as a courtesy to the tellers though so they do not have to roll the boxes around in their office chairs! :)
