I took my dinner break at my local Backyard Barbeque this past Sunday evening, and I took photos of some framed coin sets on the wall. Besides antique shops, where have others seen these before? It was rather dark inside, so the pictures are not as clear as they could be.

I know the Kennedy Mint has been producing various styles of these inserts and frames for years, but I don't think these particular styles are available anymore.

I have frequently seen them for sale on auction sites. Sometimes they have coins, sometimes it's just the frames. How were they sold? Were they empty for collectors to fill, or were they sold already filled with coins?

Those look better than the normal found in a barn antique trinkest and car parts you find on the wall as decor on most BBQ joints.

I got this at a garage sale today for $2.00. Not exactly old, or particularly valuable, but still cool.

That's a really nice framed coin set for $2.00. I would have bought it too. I know that the 20th Century Coin set was sold with the coins included, but I don't think it has been available for a long time. I don't know about the other framed sets. I did a quick search for these on ebay, and I watched a 20th Century Coin set sell for $93.00. They look cool to me, but I wish they would have made one with a Morgan dollar in place of the double eagle. It makes more sense to me to have the coin present in the frame that is actually pictured on the insert. Although. . . . . I could print a picture of a Morgan and place it over the double eagle. Hmmm..... that may be something I try so long as I can find just the insert.

I'm in a high crime area so things like that on a wall amazes me. Around me you couldn't put a Nickel on the wall without someone trying to pry it off. Those are some fantastic and old looking displays.

My LCS has those - just looked at them today. However, to me the Wartime silver nickels looked dipped or whizzed...so wasn't too impressed. Maybe it changes per set tho.
