Howdy,

New to the forums and have a question about a strange looking quarter one of my children found. I have never collected coins and have no knowledge as to how to tell my child why the quarter looks this way.

The quarter is a 1974 US I cannot see a mint mark. The Edge is rounded and it is raised on both sides of the coin. I took a few pictures and will try to upload them.

I do not know if this coin was miss stamped at the mint or if it was altered by some post process.

Any information would be grand.

James

The photos are tiny, but at first glance and with your description, it's likely a Dryer Coin, or PMD. Search this site for " Dryer Coin" and you'll find a lot of examples.
