As some of you will know from a few of my posts I have been detecting for 28 years and have quite a huge number of Roman coins that I have started to sell on ebay.
I have been looking at a few different sites and the price for coins that look pretty much the same to me are greatly different, such as Constantine I, commemorative with Romulus & Remus being suckled by the she wolf. I have seen this make $5-10 and yet another that looks very similar make $25... am I better off putting a picture of anything on here that looks a bit different before selling? Or do I just bite the bullet and list them all regardless? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Better 'bite' the bullet. Dealers who get top dollar generally have a loyal following who feel that the goods are guaranteed and any returns will be honored. I have seen much the same thing. Part of it is the consistency of large sellers always having things listed for sale and that some people are less concerned about finding the lowest price and will just buy from someone they feel they 'know'. Personally I enjoy scrolling through endless listings of coins for sale .... some people have lives so busy they don't have the time. For this reason alone I personally like to list sales on Sunday and Monday nights. More people are likely to have the time to shop for something !

I have started to get a few regular buyers, sold over 400 so far and starting to get the 'trust' of the buyers. Its just a little irritating when I see a coin sell somewhere for $80 and I think to myself.... 'I sold one of those for $8 a few weeks ago'. I think you are spot on though, once I have sold a thousand coins or so the price will go up without me having to change my routine.

I see a few larger sellers who start all their coins at a £1 start price and obviously realise that what they gain on the swings they lose on the roundabout.

Some of their coins seem to go way over, and others well under. I guess most things just find their own level.

Unfortunately 'bricks and mortar' dealers with decades in the business are well trusted for a reason and can easily sell for 4 times more than everyone else. Their 'lifetime guarantees' do actually stand a chance of being truthful.

All you can do to increase your chances on ebay is take good pictures, describe the coins accurately and sell on a Sunday night.
