Great piece and great history, also learned a lot re: the original holder! thanks for sharing.

(and if it does have PVC, give it the acetone bath and be careful- I bet there's a thread if you're not familiar with the technique)

I've cleaned off PVC damage (in fact, I have an old thread here showing the process on a copper Half Cent that was fascinating! After cleaning off the PVC "growths" the coin was red copper, but in the course of a half-hour turned to brown copper.) This is similar, but is due to the pine exposure. So I don't know how I feel about treating that. It is a lower grade coin to begin with, and the toning and green residue are part of the coin's bona fide. Opinions?
